Data Protection and privacy

The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) recognises that your privacy is important to you. The information you submit will be kept confidential and secure once it reaches our server. The information will be processed (by means of a computer database or otherwise) by ICR in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Any personal information provided by you to ICR through your registration, with and use of, the website will only be used for the following purposes, by ICR:

(i) updating and enhancing membership records and those of other related ICR activities;

(ii) defining areas of interest to you and improving the services to meet users' habits and requirements, including compiling information relating to users' movements across the website; (iii) handling orders, delivering products and services, processing payments, communicating with you about orders, products and services and generally maintaining your account;

(iv) advising you of other products and services which may be of interest;

(v) providing, only with your express permission, your contact details to other members through a Membership Directory.

ICR will not make this information available to outside organisations.However, ICR will make limited details available to contracted suppliers recruited by ICR for purposes (iii) and (iv) above. Confidentiality will be required of all such suppliers, and any data transferred will be destroyed after use.

By proceeding to register with ICR, or submitting your personal data via the website, you are consenting to the processing of your personal data for the purposes and by the means set out
in paragraph 1.2 of these terms and conditions. From time to time ICR may wish to send you details by post or email about ICR products and services. You are given the opportunity to opt-out of receiving such information when we collect your personal data on the membership application form.   You may also opt out, or opt in, to receiving such information at any time by contacting ICR in writing.  You may also opt in to ICR providing your contact details in a Membership Directory.  This can be done on the membership application form and by contacting ICR in writing.

ICR will take reasonable steps to create an accurate record of any personal data you have submitted to us. However, ICR does not assume responsibility for confirming the ongoing accuracy of your personal data. You can change your personal data by requesting to see what personal information we hold about you.

This data protection and privacy policy statement relates to the information provided by you on the membership application form, via the website, via training courses attended at ICR, via the conference application form and if you have been in contact with ICR in any other way. This information includes your registration details, additional information that you choose to submit, and information which ICR gathers by tracking your activities within ICR.
