Entry requirements: A good honours degree from a UK university or equivalent and at least one year’s work experience in a relevant field. (In certain cases a blend of qualifications, motivation and relevant experience will be acceptable.)
Developed in partnership with the ICR the Clinical Research MSc provides students with a thorough understanding of clinical research, and offers those working in the field or related disciplines the opportunity to gain a formal qualification in recognition of their skills, expertise and knowledge.
Course details
In the 21st century, clinical research is conducted on a truly global stage. For companies to remain competitive, today's clinical research personnel must demonstrate knowledge of national, European and international legislation to ensure required standards and safety are achieved and medicinal products reach the market faster. This course has been developed in partnership with the ICR in order to ensure that all these requirements are being met by emerging practitioners. The credibility afforded to the course, through Cranfield’s industrially focused reputation and the ICR’s experience as an organisation at the forefront of clinical research, ensures that your ability to work to industry standards will be formally recognised by employers and colleagues alike.
Course structure
The course comprises a total of 10 taught modules followed by a research project which is undertaken in the student’s place of work. Assessment is via coursework, examination and thesis submission.
The MSc is specifically designed for those wishing to comfortably combine work and study with each module being taught over just 2.5 days. Students are required to attend at least four of the ten modules in the first year, with the remaining modules taken over the following one or two years.
The combined strengths of Cranfield University and the ICR ensure the credibility and strong reputation of this unique MSc. You will be taught by a team comprising a combination of leading academic staff and external speakers from commercial and non-commercial organisations. The campus-based taught modules are designed to promote interaction and communication, providing valuable networking opportunities with peers, academics and external experts alike.
Successful completion of the MSc qualifies Professional Members of ICR to apply for Chartered Scientist (CSci) status.
