CTA Special Interest Group Headlines

CTA SIG meeting – October 2008

 

The CTA SIG met in October 2008 and the following was discussed:

SIG Membership

-  Kerry Saunders has had to step down from the Group temporarily due to her workload and will resume her place on the Group in the New Year

-  Yvonne Walker has agreed to take over from Kerry as Vice Chair

FAQs

- The SIG have been developing and updating these and in particular:

o  to include a basic definition of ICH GCP and to highlight the areas relevant to CTAs

o  to review and update these regularly because of new regulations and updates

Draft CTA Manual

-  A draft manual has been produced and Tina Rickard and Marilyn Errington will present this at the CTA workshop

-  Workshop participants will receive a copy of the manual prior to the workshop and will be

encouraged to make suggestions to develop this on the day

-  Sections on Investigator Meetings and Archiving are to be included

CTA Workshop – 14th November 2008

 

-  The agenda has been finalised and all speakers have confirmed their attendance

Review of Website

-  The SIG indicated they would like a discussion forum on its webpage.  A general forum is being tested on the site and as soon as individual ones are available, this will be set up.

Review of Formal Strategy for 2008

-  Everyone present reviewed the Strategy for 2008 and agreed that good progress had been

made but that some items would roll over into 2009

-  The Strategy for 2009 was discussed and some ideas were:

o        to more regional events for CTAs, if there was a need for these

o        to try and attract the attention of CTAs working in NHS Trusts

o        to write an article to launch the CTA Handbook when complete

o        to carry forward objectives to promote “to be a CTA” to schools and colleges

 

CTA SIG meeting – 19th June 2008

The CTA would like to welcome Heidi Chandler, Marilyn Errington and Tina Rickard to the SIG.

The CTA SIG met in June 2008 and the following was discussed:

Feedback from ICR Spring Conference

-  The CTA presentation was reported in June’s CRfocus

-  The feedback received from the Immediate Response Questionnaires confirmed that the CTA

    session had been well received

-  The structure for the 2009 conference will be different; shorter sessions over 4 different

    streams with half day passes possibly available for those who are unable to attend for a  

    full day

Feedback from the 19th May Workshop

-   Delegate feedback was reviewed and discussed

-   Workshop in general was a success

-   Another workshop to be run in the Autumn

CTA Workshop – 14th November 2008

-    The draft agenda for the November Workshop was discussed and agreed

-    Forum to be called “The Whole Picture” and to be held at the ICR office in Bourne End

-    Quiz to be included in the delegate pack with speakers providing a couple of questions

     each

Review of Website

-    Agreed to update the FAQs – each SIG member to provide one or two questions and

     answers for this section.

CTA SIG meeting – March 2008.

The CTA SIG would like to welcome Eileen Fairclough and Helen Flello to the SIG. 

The CTA SIG met in March 2008 and the following was discussed:

 

  • ICR Spring Conference – CTA SIG Presentation

  • Sue Matthews will be presenting the CTA presentation at the ICF forum.
    • Draft slides were shown to the group and commented on.

 

  • Website Review
    • New ICR website to be launched at the ICR spring conference.
    • Headlines from each SIG and useful information on the CTA role will be posted on the new website

 

  • CTA Forum – 19th May 2008
    • Review of draft agenda for the day.
    • Forum to be held at ICR premises.
    • GLP, GCP, Distance learning and presentation on Research Nurses have been confirmed.
    • The session will be called ‘Your training needs explored’.

 

  • Review of Formal Strategy 2008
    • Everyone reviewed the draft strategy for 2008 and it was agreed that progress on the objectives was generally good.  One change.
