Medical Device Applications Under the Spotlight for ICR and NRES
Summary
The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) is joining forces with the National Research Ethics Service (NRES) to hold a joint training day on Thursday, January 7th, 2010 discussing Medical Device Research Ethics Committee (REC) Applications.
The event, to be held at the ICR’s UK headquarters in Buckinghamshire, aims to help those conducting medical device studies complete research ethics documentation. Insight will be provided into ethical issues and the seminar will bring together medical device applicants and REC representatives to promote better understanding of each other’s requirements.
Facilitating the event will be Hugh Davies, research ethics adviser to NRES; David Neal, deputy director for policy at NRES; and Janette Benaddi, ICR’s chair and CEO of event sponsor Medvance Clinical Research.
She commented: “The event is aimed at anyone involved in applying for and reviewing ethics approvals for medical device studies. The group-work sessions and demonstrations should provide greater understanding of these processes. Delegates will leave with a better appreciation of the work involved and how best to work with these systems.”
This meeting is the first in ICR’s 2010 calendar of events, with a number of other joint events planned. Events are held throughout the year to provide a forum for discussion for members in specific disciplines. The full calendar can be found at http://www.icr-global.org/community/calendar-of-events/.
Janette added: “Complementing our Annual Spring Conference in April, our regular forums and joint events cover all areas of the clinical research industry and help us to provide continuing professional development and support for the growth of our members.”
